Mt. Mist Day Camp
By Emille Adams
Looking for a great way to spend your summer? Mountain Mist Day Camp is a fun way to spend weekdays! There is a preview week and four two-week sessions when Mountain Mist Day Camp is in session. At the end of each session there is an "overnight," in which campers stay overnight from Thursday to Friday afternoon.
Thursday is also the day the musical theatre camp showcases their performance. Theatre camp is only one of the many specialty camps including sports camp, horseback riding camp, and fort building camp. A regular camp in the morning allows kids to select individual activities and in the afternoon there are group activities.
Different age/grade groups are organized from the youngest, Teepees, to Pioneers, then Discoverers to Explorers, and Adventurers to the oldest, Navigators. In addition, freshman in high school can apply to be counselors-in- training, who are campers that help counselors with younger groups.
After or before lunch (depending on age group) participants have free time to go to the pool, one of the two playgrounds, or the courts-- two full basketball courts, a tennis court, & multiple four-square courts. All together an amazing summer experience!

Unified Sports
By Annika Hanson
Unified Sports is an event in which many students from WMS participate each year with other schools from Connecticut in a basketball game.
This year the event was held at Wilcox Technical High School. Team coach, Mr. Montemurro has been a part of Unified Sports for eight years now. His favorite part about Unified Sports, he said, is seeing all the kids work together and help kids from other teams.
The annual lighting of the torch was done by Andrea Meza and Robert Amato. This year WMS had nineteen students that participated.

Hit a Bull's-eye: Archery
By Lilliana Murdy
Archery has been a vital skill for man for thousands of years. It was used to hunt animals, and to fight with in wars. The oldest stone arrow head was found in Africa and was used sometime around 50,000 B.C. Between 25,000 and 18,000 B.C. flint arrow heads were hardened by fire and then tied to a shaft with feathers attached making the bow go farther and faster. Bows were last used in war in England in 1644.
Modern day bows are used in hunting. In 1934 Wisconsin gave promotion to the nation's first bow hunting season. Today many people practice archery for the skill and fun. Sometimes competitions are held and archers compete for money or a trophy.
If you are interested in taking archery lessons, the Boys and Girls Club of Meriden offers archery lessons for members on Thursday and Fridays from 3:10 PM - 5:40 PM and 6:10 PM -8:00 PM. Youths ages nine & up can shoot for just the fun of it or serious competition.
