Is MHS not your district high school? Not to fear, the Panthers are here. Platt High School (PHS) offers many of the same activities and clubs as MHS; they just have a different mascot. However they are also widely known for football. I'm not going to lie; their football team is unbelievably good. They beat MHS in the 2012 football game 40 to 0. They also have a great reputation from the many sports and clubs they offer similar to Maloney. They also have a wide selection of clubs to join if sports aren’t your thing. Some of the very many clubs offered are chess club, newspaper, and broadcast. Although this high school's academic offerings are similar to MHS, there are some differences. Sounding off on Dress Code
By Alberto Candelario
Many students at Washington Middle want to express themselves by wearing the clothes they like and the clothes that are in fashion now. Recently I interviewed some students about the dress code at our school.
Jonathan Goodman, an eighthgrader agrees with the dress code at our school. He said, "Basically, it is reasonable. I'm glad we can wear hoodies now."
Another student Olivia Santos, also an eighth grader said she likes the dress code and but with a few changes. Santos said, "We should be able to wear flip-flops and hats because flip-flops are comfortable and cool you down in the summer and hats are good because they keep your head warm when it's cold.''
Natalie Turgeon, an eighthgrader said, ''I think the dress code is good and if I can add anything I would add the students be allowed to wear scarves."
Alyssa Kinard, a sixth grader said, "I think it [the dress code] is good but if I can add anything then I would add that we can wear hats."
Students were asked if they would like to wear uniforms. Jamal Bouajjaj said, "I wouldn't like to because we would wear the same exact thing every day. I like the idea of …[uniforms], but I would not want to wear [them]. Wearing whatever they want allows kids to express themselves."
Spencer Trella said, "Kids should be allowed to wear hats because H day stands for hats and F day stands for fedoras."
Now it is up to you how you feel about the dress code. Whether you like or not, you must follow the code.
